The challenge

We needed to clearly communicate what BNP Paribas’ new transformation strategy was and how it was going to impact people and their ways of working. But it wasn’t enough just to tell people what was happening – we had to do it in a way that positively engaged people, so they would get behind the changes and play an essential part in the transformation of the business.

Our solution

We created an identity for the transformation programme – called Make a Difference – and gave it a strong, consistent narrative based on five pillars.

The full launch took place at the annual business conference, and was followed by ‘Lunch and Learn’ sessions to educate employees on the new digital technologies being introduced.

One of our ideas was to launch an ideas app – an engaging way for employees to share their ideas for improving the business. We also initiated a Make a Difference recognition programme, celebrating the individuals whose ideas made the biggest impact.

All this was supported by an ongoing campaign of internal communications and engagement.

Results

350 ideas submitted in the first 6 months.

100 ideas were implemented, resulting in 130 working days saved per month – the equivalent to 6 full time employees.

Over 50% of staff joined lunch and learn sessions.

Employee engagement score up 5% year on year (to 85%).
